Deck Material Options: What Exactly Are Your Choices

Today’s decks can be crafted using a variety of decking materials; from wood of course, to composite, to even pvc products, the possibilities are certainly plentiful. We have been building decks for years in the Escondido area, and we would love to give you some insight into what you should consider when choosing material for your deck project.

Wood Decks: Of course, you can never go wrong with the tried and true. That is why most of the decks we install are in fact wood decks. From standard pressure treated material, to more exotic, tropical hardwoods, wood offers a warm and rich canvas on which you can create a true outdoor oasis. Now wood does of course require maintenance, but the decks we create are absolutely stunning and are certainly worth that extra bit of upkeep.

Composite Wood: While definitely an increasingly popular option, composite products do tend to be pricier than wood decks. Not to mention, the hardware for assembling such structures in and of itself can get to be quite exorbitant. The color availability for these types of products though is ever expanding, and of course you don’t have the maintenance that you do with wood decks.

Plastic / PVC: Plastic decking material products have come a long way in the past decade. While the no maintenance factor here is certainly great, they don’t really mimic the look and feel of wood. And the fastening and interlocking systems on these can be quite complex, so this isn’t really a do-it-yourselfer job.

Your deck is an extension of your house. Outdoor living is becoming just as important as indoor living, and so you definitely want a gorgeous and functional deck space made from the optimal decking material. We would love to walk you through the choices, see what works best with your space and budget and help you create the ultimate new deck!
